My zotero is not working and refusing to update

    My Zotero is not working/incredibly slow and it said it is failing to update.

    ERROR REPORT:
    "Software Updtae Failed
    The update could not be installed. Please make sure there are no other copies of Zotero running on your computer, and then restart Zotero to try again.”

    I have checked and I only have one version of Zotero, and I have restarted Zotero and my Computer two times now.

    And Zotero will not update when I:

    Steps to reproduce:

    1. Click the “Help” button in the Zotero toolbar.
    2. Open the “Check for updates”.

    The the updating window comes up, but it freezes


    When I want to use Zotero in Google Docs, I:

    1. Click the “Zotero” button in the Google doc toolbar.
    2. Open the “Add/edit citation”
    3 Choose an citation
    4 Click enter
    5 Zotero freezes again while updating and does not insert the citation
  • OK, those are two totally different, unrelated definitions of "updating" — that's part of why I was asking.

    For the app update, you should restart your computer and reinstall the app from the download page. Your data won't be affected.

    If you're still having trouble in Google Docs after that, say more about what exactly is happening.
