Get outta here, in-text citations!

Hello,
I've been trying to convert my in-text (Chicago author-date) citations to footnotes (Chicago full note). Every time I try, MS Word for Mac either thinks until it crashes, or gives me footnotes in author-date format. I've updated MS Word. I also reinstalled Zotero. Thanks in advance!
  • Word for Mac is rather slow, especially with footnote citations. Unfortunately we cannot improve its performance. We recommend to split the document into chapters and work on them separately, then recombine at the end of writing, or at least do this to convert to footnote citations.
  • Thank you, but this is a 30-page document--there aren't separate chapters. But there are probably ~100 citations (very tedious).
  • And I just tried to update manually. Nada. It simply thinks endlessly the minute I highlight a citation and click "Add/Edit" citation in an effort to update it.
  • It does seems this has gotten worse with 6.0.27.
Could you try the solution in the last paragraph of this post by dstillman https://forums.zotero.org/discussion/comment/444294/#Comment_444294 (i.e. download the linked Zotero.dotm file, place it in Word startup, and restart Word.
It's meant to fix a different issue, but I'm curious if it'd help here, too (there's no risk in using it).
  • @sstrings: Can you provide a Debug ID for reproducing this? Let it run for at least a minute before submitting the output.
