full text PDF download with EZproxy not working while desktop app running
My Zotero Connector plugin does not always succeed in downloading full text PDFs as expected. I get a red cross icon and red text for the detected PDF in the pop-up of the plugin when this happens.
The issue occurs, when I am using my universities EZproxy (proxy.findit.cvt.dk). My Debug ID: D612922489
I have the same issue on IEEE Xplore and ScienceDirect, indicating it is not a specific translator's issue.
For open-access publications all is fine – even through the proxy.
Weirdly, all works as expected, if I close the desktop application of Zotero and use saving to zotero.org.
As a workaround I'd also be happy if there were an option to always save to zotero.org, even when the desktop application is running.
Additional info: The proxy is not automatically detected and saved for the redirection feature by the Zotero connector plugin.
I have gone through the troubleshooting for translator issues (https://www.zotero.org/support/troubleshooting_translator_issues).
Example URLs:
https://ieeexplore-ieee-org.proxy.findit.cvt.dk/document/10104120 (have access through proxy, but get no PDF. Debug ID: D612922489 The unproxied URL would be: https://ieeexplore.ieee.org/document/10104120)
https://ieeexplore-ieee-org.proxy.findit.cvt.dk/document/10056987 (open-access paper, works fine)
I am using a MacBook Air M1 and all software is up to date.
OS: macOS Ventura 13.4.1 (c) (22F770820d)
Browser: Chrome Version 116.0.5845.110 (Official Build) (arm64)
Zotero: 6.0.26
Hope I did not miss any relevant info. I'd be really happy to switch back to Zotero after using other tools for a few years – it gained exactly the features I wanted :)
EDIT:
I have (out of curiousity, unrelated to this issue) installed the Zotero 7 beta.
The issue does not arise with the beta. Unsure, if it is stable enough to depend on it though.

Full-text PDF download fails from e.g. journals.aps.org when accessed through proxy.findit.cvt.dk, and the extension falls back to finding the open access PDF.
Extension's proxy settings:
Login URL scheme: https://login.proxy.findit.cvt.dk/login?qurl=%u
Proxied URL scheme: %h.proxy.findit.cvt.dk/%p
Will post another Debug ID later, if I can reproduce it.
