I am re-doing my zotero database and adding files in bulk. I noticed a pattern, where metadata retrieval fails mostly for pdfs with special characters in the filenames (mostly diacritic symbols in names of authors).

This is for an example file:
Report ID: 1068588319
Paper's DOI: 10.1177/0269881122108
Filename: "Orłowski et al_2022_Naturalistic use of psychedelics is related to emotional reactivity and.pdf"

Here is another example (if the previous is behind a paywall):
DOI: 10.1038/s41598-023-30639-3
Filename: "Orłowski_Bola_2023_Sensory modality defines the relation between EEG Lempel–Ziv diversity and.pdf"

This happens to articles from all publishers.
When creating a parent item from DOI everything works without a problem.
