Upgrade StorageItalicized without asking for it?
Hi guys, So I've been having trouble with zotero choosing to italicize parts of my citations without me asking for it via the text so I'm not sure how to undo it. When I go into the actual separate citation the text looks normal?
As an example being cited in the format for Functional Ecology:
Zane, L., Ensminger, D. C., & Vázquez-Medina, J. P. (2021). Short-term elevations in glucocorticoids do not alter telomere lengths: A systematic review and meta-analysis of non-primate vertebrate studies [Preprint]. Physiology. https://doi.org/10.1101/2021.05.19.444844
The citation created by zotero shows the text " Short-term elevations in glucocorticoids do not alter telomere lengths: A systematic review and meta-analysis of non-primate vertebrate studies" all italicized.
Or another example being cited in the format for PBZ (Physiological and Biochemical Zoology):
Allaye-Chan A. 1991. Physiological and ecological determinants of nutrient partitioning in caribou and reindeer (Doctoral dissertation). University of Alaska.
This citation has the full title from the year to (Doctoral dissertation) italicized. When I copy unitalicized text into the title entry spot it automatically italicizes it when it creates the citation. I'm not sure how to fix it. I've contacted PBZ and they've said it shouldn't be italicized.

We can take a look at PBZ. I just don't think we have accounted for theses there.
thesis titles need to be italicized. That they'd have to check with the manuscript editors, but that their impression was that italicization is reserved for the title of the complete publication, such as the book or journal title. I was told not to worry about it and that the copyeditor would catch it but my adviser is adamant that I resolve this early. Given that, I'm not sure why zotero would automatically be italicizing theses titles as well.
It might not be worth worrying about at this point. Just trying to resolve it in case it can also help others as well.
APA italicises the title for theses. That's why.
Wiley journals always have terrible guidelines, in this case they don't even show any examples on their author guidelines page and just say to look at current published papers.
Doing so you can clearly see that they want titles for theses italicised:
Bond, W. J. (2019). Open ecosystems: Ecology and evolution beyond the for-est edge. Oxford University Press.

This is also in line with your statement from above "reserved for the title of the complete publication". For me a thesis is a complete work, just like a book.
