APA 6th in-text citation shows ":" instead of ",p."

I apologize if my question seems basic, but I've encountered an issue that I can't seem to resolve "even" after searching on Google.

I'm using the Zotero Word plugin to format my citations in APA 6th style. However, in a specific document that's already formatted, the in-text citations are appearing in the format ([author], [year]:[page]) instead of the expected ([author], [year], p. [page]).

I've attempted to change the style in the document preferences to a different one and then switch back, but unfortunately, that hasn't fixed it. Strangely, in another document where I use the same style, the citations appear correctly.

Would anyone be able to provide some guidance on why this might be happening? Any suggestions on how I can revert back to the desired ", p." format would be greatly appreciated.
All the best the panicing paniceye ^^
  • Are you sure that you’re not using American Sociological Association (ASA)?

APA 7th edition ships by default with Zotero, not APA 6th. In the default styles list, American Sociological Association (ASA) 6th edition is right above APA and is sometimes misread.
  • After your comment I just downloaded the latest version of APA 6th again. but interestingly it worked now. You may be right and I was just trying the wrong style. But that would surprise me... Anyway, thanks for your help! <3
