Zotero 7: Crash from Retrieve Metadata button

Steps to reproduce:
1) Add a PDF file without parent item which does not give any result for a Retrieve Metadata ("No matching reference found")
2) Right-Click on that PDF file -> Retrieve Metadata
3) Close the popup window from the top right X
[At this stage, the Retrieve Metadata icon next to the sync wheel in the top right does not disappear, which is probably already a bug?]
4) Click on Retrieve Metadata icon next to the sync wheel in the top right
5) Close the popup window from the top right X or the Close button
6) Right-Click -> Retrieve Metadata on the same item or another one
At this step, Zotero crashes and disappears.

I don't know how to provide information beyond step 5.

    It actually does not matter whether the Retrieve Metadata in Step 2 is successful or not. But then in Step 6 you have to do it on another PDF file without parent item.

    Zotero does not crash anymore after step 6.
    The only thing that I do not understand is why using the top right X at step 3 still keeps the Retrieve Metadata icon next to the sync wheel in the top right, while clicking on Close removes it. Is there any reason to keep that icon in the top right?

    It crashed for me once on beta 38, then I wasn’t able to reproduce as I added this PDF next time when I tried without problems, so I didn’t created any issue
