This just happened - Zotero was working fine - now after every single document it says this

- This item could not be saved because Zotero is not open or is unreachable. Please open Zotero and try again. -

and now it has stopped working completely

I have reinstalled the extension twice
I have debugged
I have re-checked all that I can think to re-check

Any suggestions

    Do you have the Zotero app open?

    Or are you saying you're working only with the online library? For best results, you'll want to install the Zotero app from the download page and save directly to that. Some things (including standalone PDFs) can't be saved directly to the online library.

    You can set up syncing with your online library to download your existing items.

    I will try on the download page - but it is more than frustrating

    I'm not sure what you're saying. Do you have the Zotero app on your computer or not? If you do, you don't need to download anything.

    Some of it on the downloaded app
    And some of it has disappeared

    any suggestions to how to get it only to save in one place?
  • You just need to set up syncing to have your data everywhere. But you should always have the Zotero app open when trying to save.
