Zotero was unable to load translators and styles.

ReportID 1368179389

Suddenly zotero stopped working with mac word. I've done the suggested steps below as well as reinstall zotero. Please help!

"Try resetting translators and styles and checking your database integrity from the Advanced → Files and Folders pane of the Zotero preferences. If that doesn't help, delete the styles and translators directories in your Zotero Data Directory and restart Zotero."

There's a permissions problem in your Zotero data directory. Did you move files from another computer?

You're saying you tried deleting the 'translators' folder in your Zotero data directory and restarting Zotero?
  • yes, I moved them from another computer a couple months ago... although it worked fine until a few days ago.

And yes, I deleted both the "translator" and "styles" folders in my zotero files... and then restarted (and reinstalled) zotero.

    Thank you!
  • That just means there's still a permissions problem from when you copied the files and it was triggered now during some routine translator updates. Migration Assistant generally handles updating permissions properly, but other forms of copying often don't.

You'll need to fix the permissions so that your data directory and all folders and files within are writable by your Mac user account. We can't help you with the specifics, since this isn't a problem in Zotero, but you should be able to fix it from the bottom of the Get Info window for the data directory.
  • OK- thank you so much! It's a Baylor U computer, so couldn't use Migration Assist. I'll work on it and reach to Baylor IT if I can't figure it out. Have a great w/e!
