Google Docs plugin throws error when variables are added in document
Hi Zotero experts,
I've been using the Google Docs plugin with Chrome Zotero Connector to manage citations for a manuscript. Everything was working smoothly until I added some Google Docs variable chips so that I could repeat some statistics throughout the document. Now, with the variable chips in place, I get an error when I try to add/update citations or the bibliography.
I made a test document, and found that indeed it appears that the presence of a variable chip in the document metadata at all causes Zotero to throw the update error, even if the variable isn't embedded in the document. Deleting all variables from the metadata allows Zotero Connector to open the relevant Zotero dialog boxes and update stuff.
For my own manuscript, I think I'll just have to try to render all the Google Docs variables as constants and then update the bibliography one last time, but I wanted to write to ask if there's something else I can do, or if this requires an API patch for the plugin?
Thanks for your help!
Test document (I think I still have to grant access when you click, but I will do that as soon as I get the notification): https://docs.google.com/document/d/1yIrISXMrHdRSvmi4-b7jOuA9zifp1JufydcMDIp7ywM/edit?usp=sharing
Debug ID for that test document where I reproduced the error: D520124132
