Importing RIS File returns error

Error code: 367163623

I have a RIS file with the exported database out of the library software Allegro where the university archives their theses. We want to move this database over to Zotero so that it is more user friendly and accessible to faculty, staff and students. When I import the file in Zotero, I get the following error message:
"An error occurred while importing the selected file with "RIS". Please check if the file is correct and try again."

Can anyone help troubleshoot here? Or perhaps there is an alternative way to import into Zotero from Allegro that would be smoother? We also have an .xml file but this returns the error that this file type is not supported.

Thanks for any help!
  • Please copy the first few lines (only) of the RIS file and paste that here. There may be something very simple that you can change to make the file properly fit RIS standards. There may be something a bit less simple that you can do.
  • [JavaScript Error: "entry.tags.indexOf is not a function" {file: "chrome://zotero/content/xpcom/translation/translate_firefox.js line 425 > eval" line: 1255}]
@emsuchy: If you don't mind, can you email the RIS file in question to support@zotero.org with a link to this thread?
  • @DWL-SDCA @dstillman Thanks for your replies! Unfortunately I can't post the file here. The information is sensitive and not to be shared outside the university. I have sent an email to support with the files.
  • Great, thanks — that was exactly what we needed, and this should now be fixed.

(I'm not familiar with Allegro, but this was a years-old bug importing RIS from Citavi, which your RIS claimed to be (M4 - Citavi in each entry). Most people coming from Citavi follow a dedicated import process, so this wouldn't have come up, but it would have affected anyone trying to import Citavi-flavored RIS directly, as you were doing.)
