The problems in the NOTE function of Zotero 6

The problems about using the note editor on Windows platform:

> The differences between heading1~6 are too small to distinguish even when they are listed together.

> You need to click twice to select the font of the word, and as you can not distinguish the heading, you need to click twice to know that.

> The toolbar has only 7 buttons, which creates a lot of wasted space.

> When the editor is opened with a new window, the original edit box in the side bar of the main window can still be edited. In this case, there is an editing conflict between the two windows.

  • Could you make a screenshot demonstrating all your mentioned issues?
When the editor is opened with a new window, the original edit box in the side bar of the main window can still be edited. In this case, there is an editing conflict between the two windows.
Have you actually encountered any conflicts? The changes should be saved and propagated, to other editor instances, immediately.

Once, I was typing in the window editor, and the touchpad mistakenly clicked on the main window's editor, causing the input to be written directly to the main window's editor, while the content typed in the window editor had not yet been synchronized to the main window, which led to the disappearance of all the content typed in the window editor.
This is easy to reproduce, you put the window editor and the main window side by side, and in the input process, you click on the other editor, it will lead to input content loss.

Here is a screen recording illustrating the note editing conflict. See at 00:22 the conflicting text written in the side window, then the text from the old window being transferred quickly, but deleted immediately, overwritten by the new text that had been written there before the transfer. The text saving and propagation seem to require a short stop in the writting to be triggered.

  • Alright, a save will be triggered when the editor loses focus. That should solve the reported issues. Thanks.
