Identifier not working (with any correct DOI or ISBN)
Hello, I know there have been several related entries but they all drift into a discussion about correct DOIs... The DOIs I try to enter into my library with the Idenitfier are correct, no URLs, etc. (although two years ago I had no problems with entering URLs either).
Anyway, some examples:
10.1007/s13593-022-00783-7
10.1146/annurev.es.04.110173.000245
10.1007/s10457-022-00740-z
ISBNs don't work either:
978-1-60535-255-8
Sorry but what use is a library if you have to enter everything manually?
Please help me out.

"sometimes you're the only person experiencing a particular problem"
Obviously this isn't a problem affecting everyone, or there would be dozens of posts about it. Just report the problem you're experiencing.
Those ids all work fine in general. Can you provide a Debug ID for an attempt that fails?
https://www.zotero.org/support/debug_output And just to be clear -- there are multiple non-manual ways to get items into your library, and in most situations, your web browser is the best way: https://www.zotero.org/support/adding_items_to_zotero#via_your_web_browser
(and FWIW, adding DOIs in URL form, like doi.org/10.1007/s13593-022-00783-7 will always work. Adding article URLs will typically not work but actually will in the cases above because the URLs includes the DOI)
I didn't want to be impolite, it was simply frustrating. We are six authors writing on a book and I am the one who is responsible for citing everything correctly and neatly...
Debug ID:
D1645210433 (just the doi)
D381266566 (the doi URL)
I am aware there is a Plugin to save entries from the websites but it would indeed be way quicker if I could enter items with the identifier as otherwise I will need to google all our literature entries (which are numerous).
And just a small remark: There are several forum entries reporting people having all of a sudden problems with the identifier. I used to be able to enter everything even with the URL-doi (like in the comment of adamsmith) but that doesn't work either on my work computer)
Can you provide a Debug ID from Zotero startup through an ISBN lookup attempt that fails, using the "Restart with Logging Enabled…" option?
(And to clarify, there's no difference between a DOI and URL containing a DOI in Add Item by Identifier — Zotero just parses out the DOI. adamsmith was just explaining that non-DOI URLs won't work there, and never have.)
In any case, in the meantime your best bet is to use the Zotero Connector.
