Remove parentheses from citations in footnotes

I have tried various different styles but they all attach parenthesis around the footnote citation in Word. How do I remove it without doing it manually on every single footnote? Thanks.

Are you sure?
I'd say the grand majority of note styles are without brackets.

In my footnotes all the citations appear with brackets likes this:

(Baird, 2014)

No matter which style I choose

Which style are you using?
Are your citations still active?

Anyway, above link will have a style with what you need. Find it, try it in a fresh document.

World Politics or International Organization would be examples of author-date citations in footnotes if that's what you're looking for.

I'm using: Chicago Manual of Style 17th Edition, Author-Date.

I can't see those two styles that you mention.

Then it could mean that you're citations are not active, as mentioned above. That's also why I asked to try in a new document.

(The styles you have been using are author-date styles intended for use as in-text citations, so the parentheses are intentional)

Aha, that would make sense. I'm fairly new to Zotero, so I've not worked out how to do it any other way.

Thanks for the suggestions. I think the issue is that I have been inserting citations a long-winded way. I have added a new footnote, than used Zotero to insert the citation. However, I do not have an option to insert as a footnote when the zotero menu appears.
