Can't add final bibliography list to end of Word document - Error ID 133393465
I am experiencing something similar to https://forums.zotero.org/discussion/105855/zotero-experienced-an-error-updating-your-document-issue
I obviously know how to use Zotero, as I have created many papers in MS Word with it, including a paper I am presenting at a conference later this month. So I don't think my usage is a problem. I may have found a new bug, along with others here on this forum.
What changed? Last week, I needed to completely reinstall my operating system fresh from scratch due to computer problems. So everything is fresh and also the newest version. I can add citations fine to my Word document by clicking "Add/Edit Citation". However, when I click "Add/Edit Bibliography" to add the final bibliography to my brand new document, I get an error message in MS Word:
"Zotero experienced an error updating your document.
Would you like to view troubleshooting instructions?"
If I click Yes, I get directed to Zotero's website for help, and if I click No, I go back to MS Word. However, MS Word believes that there is a bibliography there, though it is empty. MS Word has added an empty space character where the bibliography is supposed to be. If I have my cursor at that empty space character and click "Add/Edit Bibliography", it shows me my list of "References in Bibliography", which is correct and can be edited. So Zotero is definitely correctly building the list of references, but it cannot generate the text of references in the Word document.
Here is the version of everything I am running:
macOS Big Sur version 11.7.8
Microsoft Word version 16.74 (23061100)
Zotero version 6.0.26
Citation Style: MIS Quarterly
Please let me know if you need any other information, thanks. I am a bit desperate, as my comprehensive exams are starting on Wednesday, so it would be really nice to have Zotero working... ;)

adomasvenDid you install any security software? Can you insert a bibliography with a different citation style? Could you create a new macOS user account and see if you can insert the bibliography there?

PakG1No security software. I don't know what happened, but I closed Zotero and Word and restarted it, and it's working fine now. I have no good explanation for this. There may be some intermittent issue or specific conditions that allow the issue to arise, but I don't have enough data to say. I'll count my lucky stars.

PakG1OK, it looks like the bibliograph is disappearing again. I don't know why. I closed MS Word and Zotero and opened them again. Then I deleted the space at the end of the document where the bibliography was supposed to be and then again clicked "Add/Edit Bibliography" and then everything was fine again. So this definitely looks like an intermittent problem that I can't explain.

adomasvenGiven the OS you are running, presumably this is a pretty old mac? We know for sure there are intermittent problems in the plugin architecture we use to build our Zotero plugin, but for a long while we didn't have an alternative. We don't get many reports like this any more and the problems are likely to appear more often on slower machines, so this is probably just what you're seeing. Unfortunately we can't help much with improving this for now. You could try not running other heavy processes while refreshing Zotero documents. There's also a possibility of using LibreOffice or Google Docs which don't have these problems. Sorry that there isn't a more satisfying answer.

PakG1Confirmed, it's a MacBook Pro Mid 2014. If that's the case, that's fine. It is what it is and I'm destined to replace this clunker sooner or later. :)
