[Zotero 7] Cursor jumps to first position when editing annotation

edited June 26, 2023
Hi all,

while editing a text with quite a few OCR mistakes, I've encountered the following strange behaviour. To reproduce:

1. Highlight some text in the PDF reader.
2. Double click on the annotation in the left sidebar to edit it and highlight a word in the annotation.

Result: After circa 1 second, the cursor jumps to the beginning of the annotation. This is quite annoying when one is trying to edit the note at the same time.

I've created a Debug-ID for this: D387376728

To me it looks like it might be the same problem as this (but I'm not typing a comment but edit the highlighted text itself): https://forums.zotero.org/discussion/93792/text-for-annotation-is-cleared-if-added-too-soon.
  • Does this occur all the time or only under specific circumstances, such as when a sync is in progress?
  • It only occurs with the most recently created annotation in a document - highlighting a word or phrase in an older annotation does not lead to the cursor jumping.

As far as I can see it happens for all newly created annotations (I don't know how I can figure out if has to do with syncing without leaving the reader tab, though).
