Zotero not letting me change bibliography formats

Zotero isnt letting me change my formats (ex. from APA to Chicago or AMA). It always gives a troubleshoot response. I've restarted Zotero and my computer, as well as updated Zotero. It still gives the same response.

    Is this with inserting references in a word processor (Google Docs, LibreOffice, MS Word)?

    Is this an issue with the Zotero function that allows you to create a report or a bibliography?

    Something else?

    What (exact) error message? What do you mean by "troubleshoot response"?
  • We'd also need a Report ID.
  • Yes it’s with using Zotero for Microsoft word. I used APA. Then when attempting to change the format to Chicago or AMA, nothing changes. The formats look similar when attempting to change from the Zotero app itself. And when attempting to change the format from Microsoft Word, it would give an error or not change anything at all.
  • It’s an issue with changing the format of the bibliography. And I will look for the type of error message. The last time I tried, no error/troubleshoot message popped up, but it also did not change the formatting at all.

    It says Zotero Integration Error. “Zotero experienced an error updating your document. Would you like to view troubleshooting instructions”
  • Note that you only change citation formats in the Word add-on. Nothing you do in the Zotero app itself will affect citations in Word.

    dstillman is asking for an error report ID (https://www.zotero.org/support/reporting_problems#provide_a_report_id ) -- but start with https://www.zotero.org/support/kb/debugging_broken_documents
  • That’s the error Word gives me when using the add-on of Zotero that is within Microsoft Word. Also there’s no report number shown. However I’m using a Gateway Laptop. I used Microsoft Edge to install Zotero. And Zotero is fully updated.
  • Read the links above posted by adamsmith carefully. You need to submit a Report ID in Zotero and post it here.

  • There are no errors in there. Make sure you generate that after reproducing the problem and before restarting Zotero.
