Upgrade StorageFirefox "save to zotero" plugin does not connect to desktop app

I need your help: on my new laptop, I installed both the zotero desktop app and the firefox-plugin "save to zotero". Oddly, the little "save to zotero"-icon doesn't appear in the symbol list. However, it is shown as a kind of bookmark, but when I use that, the references are invariably saved to zotero web instead of the desktop app (which means I have to synchronise everything and wait quite a bit until I can use the reference in my document). I have tried to download the add-in again and again but I keep having that problem. Do you know what I can do about it?

The Zotero Connector is available from the download page, and you install it like any other Firefox extension. See No Toolbar Button if you think you installed it but can't find it.
