After reinstalling Zotero 6 will my I need to also redownload ZotFile?
I'm planning to reinstall the the release version of Zotero 6 (replacing the beta version).
I set up linked files with ZotFile - will they remain linked and will my preferences be preserved or will I need to set it up again?
Sorry if this has been addressed elsewhere!

dstillmanNo, there's essentially no difference between the Zotero 6 release and beta versions at this point, and switching between them has no effect on your data or plugins.

j.o.saltGreat - thanks

zmetedinlerso there is no need to install zot file? is it right if we don't install zot file? Is the full functionality of the zot file plugin available in zotero 6?

j.o.saltYes - I've just reinstalled zotero 6, and everything (including zotfile functionality) works exactly the same as dstillman said, no need to reinstall zotfile/set it up again or anything

tim820As a general principle, you should always fully document your Zotfile setup though. While it's unlikely that anything will change in this scenario, there are other scenarios where you might not have access to your old setup (eg disk crash). It will also make installing Zotero on new computers much easier. Everyone will have different entries for things like Zotfile's Custom Location and Zotero's Linked Attachment Base Directory (and they may differ across your computers). You may also have customized other Zotfile settings.

adamsmithAlso, for the above question:If you want Zotfile functionality, you will still need to install it (you just don't need to *re*install it after going from the beta to the stable release). Specifically, Zotero 6 provides all functionality Zotfile used to provide wrt extracting annotations natively. Other functionality (complex renaming, move&link, send to tablet, attach recent files) still require Zotfile.
