OSCOLA Style error

Good day,
Guide for authors provides the following for Journals:

First citation: 17 Paul Craig, ‘Theory, “Pure
Theory” and Values in Public Law’ [2005] PL
440 (hereafter Craig, ‘Theory, “Pure Theory”
and Values’)

Subsequent citation: 34 Craig, ‘Theory, “Pure
Theory” and Values’ (n 17) 445

On Zotero, first citation does not generate '(hereafter Graig, 'Theory "Pure Theory" and Values')

subsequent citation does not include Title, it only shows name and (n..).

PLEASE HELP.
  • Where do you get this from? The word "hereafter" does not appear in the OSCOLA guide (4th edition) and while the Paul Craig citation does appear in the guide, it doesn't include the hereafter.

The style will add the short title on subsequent citations when more than one work by the same author(s) is cited, as per p. 6 "EXAMPLE of subsequent citation of two works by the same author".
  • I got it from Oxford University Press for the manuscript I am preparing for them. Thank you very much, I see that it does include the title for different works by same author but the one they sent me makes it standard even if the author has only one work.

I also see that Zotero does not use journal abbreviation but goes for the full name - OSCOLA on the other hand requires journal abbreviation.

Thank you very much for responding, really appreciate.

Yes, we do this on purpose because the automated journal abbreviations that Zotero produces are for medical journals and would be a mess here. You can find data entry samples for OSCOLA here: https://www.zotero.org/groups/229950/oscola_samples/library

If you need a variant of OSCOLA, you can edit the style https://www.zotero.org/support/dev/citation_styles/style_editing_step-by-step . We can help with specific questions, but you'd have to figure out what exactly needs to get changed from standard OSCOLA -- good chance there are other things and we don't have the time to do this piecemeal.
