Zotero 1.0 plugin for Word x on Mac

Downloaded the Word for Mac 1.0 plugin. A toolbar appears on the left, but there are no icons, just lines. Clicking on File, Recent Documents, then Zotero.dot opens a window which asks about enabling macros. We enable macros, but the document now shows "Read-only."
Can you tell me what to tweak or change to be able to use the plugin toolbar in this version of Word on a Mac?

    There is no Zotero plug-in for Word X for Mac. Zotero 1.0 supports Word 2004, while Zotero 2.0 supports both Word 2004 and Word 2008.
