Citing Wikipedia articles in APA style (7th ed.)

Hi guys and gals,

APA style distinguishes between edited encyclopedia and Wikipedia articles in the way they should be presented in the reference list. Yet Zotero does not have an Item Type for Wikipedia articles.

How would you recommend I handle this situation?

Could this be corrected by editing the APA 7th "Citation Style", perhaps making use of the Extra field in an existing Item Type?
  • Use "Encyclopedia entry" for both.

    Then it prints out as:

Oil painting. (2019). In Wikipedia. https://en.wikipedia.org/w/index.php?title=Oil_painting&oldid=929802398

Sucher, J. (1996). Charge, electronic. In J. S. Riden (Ed.), Macmillan Encyclopedia of Physics (Vol. 1, pp. 191–193). Macmillan Reference USA.
  • And in particular be sure to use the archival url (with oldid in it) as the URL in Zotero
  • Ok, well... indeed I just figured out that if I get rid of "Wikipedia Contributors" in the Author field, it puts the article title before the date! That's a progression.

But the other problem is that the date is supposed to appear as "(2019, December 8)", for instance, i.e. the date of the particular article version, and not just "(2019)".

Any idea how to fix that (appart from the obvious "change it manually in the bibliography after"; I am using Zotero to automate my bibliography and limit the number of manual human errors and omissions after all)?
