zotero plug in slows down/stops google webpages from working and Word

For a few weeks now, all google webpages (e.g. google.com, scholar.google.com, maps.google.com, etc.) are hanging and not properly loading on firefox. I uninstalled and reinstalled firefox, and it was working fine again. Then I reinstalled the zotero plug-in, and now it is all very slow again. I also notice that the zotero plug-in has been slowing my Microsoft Word excessively in the same time frame.
Please help!

    Webpages and desktop Word wouldn't be at all related, and the Zotero Word plugin shouldn't really be able to affect general Word performance at all, so let's focus on the browser for now.

    Can you reproduce this if you disable all other browser extensions? Can you provide a Debug ID from the Zotero Connector for reproducing this?
