Can't access zotero after macOS update

Hi, I have updated my mac to macOS ventura 6.0.13 and now I can't open Zotero 6.0.13. When I try to open Zotero I get a message that says ""Zotero" is damaged and can't be opened. You should move it to the Trash." and " This file was downloaded on an unknown date."
How do I regain access?
Astrid
  • "Ventura 6.0.13" isn't a thing. The current Ventura version is 13.0.1. Is that what you mean?

Download the latest version of Zotero from the download page.
  • Yes my mistake... Ventura 13.0.1
  • Hello, I seem to have the same problem, with one difference that in my case pertains to the latest Zotero version. I am unsure to proceed because I am concerned that if re-install that version (the latest version) that it erases all my information? I am asked whether I want to keep both or erase the one that is damaged. What should I do? Thank you.

  • @pklusmeyer: Reinstalling has no effect on your data.
  • Hi, I have the same problem after each Ventura update! Now on 13.3. Any ideas anyone? Even though all data is retained, it's frustrating to have to reinstall Zotero every time the op system updates...
  • Sounds like this: https://appuals.com/damaged-app-cannot-be-opened-on-macos-error/

I've gone through several macos upgrades, now on 13.3,and I haven't experienced anything like this.
  • That page is about apps that aren't signed correctly. Zotero obviously is, and a properly signed app wouldn't somehow stop working after a macOS upgrade in any case. This would be some more general problem on @mnoro 's system, and they should ask Apple for help.
