How to free up some library space ?

When my storage hit the limit of 2 GB I deleted a large chunk of my library that is old. I thought that after sync this will free up space for future work, but my account still shows old numbers telling that my storage is full. I also emptied Trash folder. What does this mean? Does deleting the unnecessary entries free up space or not?

Read through Storage Quota and Local Storage.

But you're at 1.6 GB now.
