Chicago style has a wrong translation in Czech

F. e. "volume" is translated as "ročník" (year), however it should be translated as "svazek".
Is there any way to fix it easily?
  • Would you consider joining the Czech translation team for Zotero? It appears they have fallen a bit behind (15% of strings not translated). I do not know how quickly they respond requests to join as a member, but if they do, corrections are not hard..

More information about localization is here: https://www.zotero.org/support/dev/localization

(Interestingly, the same translation also exists in the CSL localization to CZ:

  • I would love to join and help

The first link is unfortunately not working.
  • I have just realised why it is like that. In English, "volume" is used as one category for books and journals, but these are two different things in the Czech language. Translation of volume as a "ročník" (year) is fine when used in a journal; however, translating volume as "ročník" when citing a book is incorrect. That's why the "svazek" is preferred and used in Czech.
  • Oops, I was logged into Transifex, hence the link is working for me.

You need to get a Transifex account, and then go to the Zotero page, I think. Or try this, https://explore.transifex.com/zotero/zotero/
  • @sushilover can svazek also be used for journal volumes? In that case, we can fix that. Otherwise, it's tricky to fix for the citation style. (Similar issue in the Zotero interface, but that doesn't affect Chicago Manual)
  • Well, technically, it would work like this in the Chicago style because the "volume" (svazek) is not present when citing a journal, only a number is presented. If fixed, the right translation would appear correctly when it should (svazek in the book citation) and would not be present where it is imprecise (svazek for journal). however the Czech UI would be confusing for native speaker when looking at journal info and it would not work for different styles which display the "volume" of journals...
