Rename PDF when retrieving metadata

I find myself almost always using "rename item from parent metadata" after using "retrieve metadata" for a PDF. It would be useful if there was an option to automatically rename a PDF file after retrieving metadata.
  • Generally in favor, but not before retrieve metadata has been improved - I'm thinking especially of an option to accept or reject the retrieved metadata for an object - the failure rate of Zotero is still quite high.

There has been a lot of discussion and some great ideas about this feature, ie: here and here. A key issue is that currently there is no ability to choose from various possible citations, and no option to reject the citation info that Zotero retrieves. Often, as adamsmith notes, the user is faced with an attachment being added to an incorrect citation. This requires a)detaching the link/attachment and dragging it to the bottom of the list so it is a standalone again, and then b) going back and finding the incorrect citation, now without an attachment, and deleting it.

A second issue is the renaming of an attachment once it has been added to a correct citation. Both of these issues could be usefully addressed by the creation of a dialogue that could appear when "retrieve metadata" is used.

I wonder if there is activity on the development side to produce something like this?
