disappearing the icon

Report Id: 1577199991
Hi
After the last update, the icon of Zotero disappeared. I am on ubuntu 20.04.
  • What icon are you referring to?
  • I meant the icon of Zotero (Z shape, the icon that is appeared in the list software and taskbar). Also, I checked the path of Zotero, and there is no ico file in its path.

  • I still don't know what you're referring to. Can you take a screenshot of the location where you're looking, upload it somewhere (Google Drive, Dropbox, etc.), and provide a link here?

But if you're asking about your OS launcher, that's not something we can help with. The Linux installation instructions explain how to run a script to update the .desktop file with the icon path and how to symlink it into the location where the application launcher can find it, but that's just general advice for Debian-based systems, and we can't provide specific troubleshooting help for your system.

I leave at two screenshots. One of them is related to icon and the other shows you in the new update the ico file is removed because there is no ico file path.
  • See my previous message and the linked instructions.
  • Look I am using the Zotero for about 1 year. And I installed correctly.
Everything was good before last update.
I update my link. I added another screenshot.
If you see my link at google drive, you will see there is no ico file. and the problem is due that there is no ico file

  • You need to read the documentation I linked to. It explains exactly why the default .desktop file doesn't have a path and how to set it properly with the bundled script.

If you're having trouble using a tarball, you should use the zotero-deb package mentioned on that page, which installs Zotero to a specific location and therefore can include a desktop file with a hard-coded path. But if you're using the tarball, you may sometimes need to run the script to update the .desktop file with the correct path for where you've placed the files. This is just a limitation of how .desktop files work.
