Failure to import bibliographic data + pdfs (Connector not working)

My Zotero Connector does not work most of the time.
The problem started, when I started using Zotero through our university network, where my data are stored on a personal network drive.
As a consequence, I am mostly unable to add pdfs and bibliographic data to my database.
I have tried the following:
I have reinstalled Zotero and Zotero Connector several times.
A few times I was able to upload pdfs and use connector after that, but then the problem reappeared.
I have tried to use Firefox and Google Chrome - no effect.
My colleague who uses Zotero in the same environment does not encounter the problem.
My problem persits if I access my Zotero database through his desktop computer.
What should I do?

  • Can you provide Debug IDs from Zotero and the Zotero Connector for reloading a page and trying unsuccessfully to save?
  • this morning, I even fail to open my database and get the following error message (remark: none of my disks/drives is full!?):

Error: Error(s) encountered during statement execution: database or disk is full [QUERY: DELETE FROM itemTypeFieldsCombined] [PARAMS: ] [ERROR: database or disk is full]
    Zotero.DBConnection.prototype.queryAsync@chrome://zotero/content/xpcom/db.js:680:13
    From previous event:
    ZoteroService@file:///C:/Program%20Files%20(x86)/Zotero/components/zotero-service.js:347:7
    @chrome://zotero/content/include.js:4:14

    thanks for your help

Network drives don't always behave the same as local disks, so some other problem might cause Zotero to think the disk is full, but that's the error it's getting. Talk to your IT department, or move the data directory back to the local disk.
  • Thank you very much - emptying storage space on the network drive did the job.
I wasn't able to detect the problem by looking at the drives in Explorer.
It would be helpful to receive an error message "not enough storage space - provide more storage capacity or move data to an alternative drive" when data imports are failing for this specific reason.
