WebDav Sync einrichten ohne account?

Ist es korrekt, dass man einen Sync von Zotero Files nur einrichten kann, wenn man auch einen account hat - auch wenn man gar nicht den Zotero-Speicher, sondern eine eigene WebDav-Verbindung nutzen will?
https://www.zotero.org/support/preferences/sync#file_syncing legt das nahe.
Oder gibt es einen andere Weg zum Menü "Data Syncing"?

    Data syncing always goes through Zotero servers, yes.

    Is that so? I get the impression that WebDav SYNCING works without Zotero Servers, but the I wonder whether/why the setup needs the zotero account.

    Because data syncing is vastly more complicated than file syncing and requires a server-side component to work efficiently. It also enables the Zotero web library and group collaboration.
