shorten the reference list

Good morning,

I need to shorten the reference list of my article which contains 6400 words. the Journal im willing to submit my article to requires less than 6000 words. is there any possibility to shorten the refrences under zotero??
I need the answer ASAP
Thanks in advance
  • You can use a citation style that is shorter than what you currently use. But I assume the journal you're submitting to has a specific style they want?
    Which journal is it?
  • Indeed, the journal requires the IEEE style. It is the International Journal of Industrial Engineering and Management
  • Then I'm not quite sure what you have in mind? If you were to do it manually, how would you want to sharten the reference list?
  • i will give an example:

    instead of : "D. K. Shetty, G. Abakari, L. L. R. Rodrigues, A. Oommen Mathew, et F. G. Motlagh"

    I want to write : " D. K. Shetty et al."

    but I want to do it automatically via Zotero.
    This will certainly help me reduce the word count.
  • Sure, if the journal is OK with that (IEEE prefers all authors to be listed) that's pretty straightforward.
    Find
    <bibliography entry-spacing="0" second-field-align="flush">
    and change to
    <bibliography entry-spacing="0" second-field-align="flush" et-al-min="3" et-al-use-first="1">

    See this page for general instructions.
  • Thanks a lot for the help
