Google docs conversion to word results in metadata added to the actual text

Hi all,
In google docs, I'm trying to switch my zotero word processor to microsoft word. After this conversion, the google doc contains inline metadata for each Zotero reference. When I then download as a word document, the reference metadata is still there inline. e.g., text looking like this is in the actual word document:

GTExITEM CSL_CITATION {"citationID":"5jmGy5Pa","properties":{"formattedCitation":"42","plainCitation":"42","noteIndex":0},"citationItems":[{"id":1732,"uris":["http://zotero.org/users/523877/items/LT4RN8ZD"],"itemData":{"id":1732,"type":"article-journal","container-title

The same sort of thing happens when I try openoffice. And the behavior repeats on both windows and Mac. Any suggestions?
Thanks!
  • Well, the transfer document is supposed to show those codes — that's the point of the process, to allow the underlying data to transfer safely. When you use the Zotero plugin in the new word processor, it should prompt you to restore the document. The top of the converted document should say "ZOTERO_TRANSFER_DOCUMENT" and include a paragraph explaining this.

Do you really mean "GTExITEM", though? Because that's not right. The codes should begin with "ITEM CITATION", not "GTExITEM CSL_CITATION". I have no idea what that would be from.
