Changing rule for capitalisation of words

Hi there

I’m having a small issue in that I have citations across a few languages and this gets problematic for me in German. Currently all my citations are generated with all the words of the title field capitalised for the first letter (eg. Goldilocks And The Three Bears). How can I get it to show (Goldilocks and the three bears) just as I have entered it in the field? Fingers crossed there is an easy way out for this one! Thanks again

  • If you enter "de" into the language field Zotero will know it's NOT an english item and therefore suppress Title Casing.
  • Thank you! I had a mixture of 'de'/'ger'/'German'/ deutsch/'dt' etc that had been imported when adding titles from various libraries - would this have to be standardised for this to have proper effect? Thanks
  • No. Anything in language that doesn't start with en will work
  • Oh fab, that's great - so if I wanted to get a title in english to be rendered without title casing, all I need to do is to add something other than 'en' in the language field - is that correct? Just cleaning up my library now, so one more question - is there anything particular that is implied by a blank language field? Does it go to default en? Thanks!
  • If you want the title in *English* to render without title casing, you should probably just be using another citation style that doesn't use title casing.
A blank language field is currently basically functionally equivalent to "en", i.e. it won't prevent title casing.
