CSL code, abbreviations for in-text citations when it isn't the full author. FEMA, NPS, ect.

My work uses an unnamed citation style (I think it is most similar to Harvard Citation Style, but it isn't the same). We are migrating to using Zotero so I am trying to create a CSL for people to use to make it easier to reference things in our style consistently.

I am running into an issue where we use abbreviations for agency names, companies, and databases in-text; however, in the literature cited we have to put that abbreviation in hard brackets before the full acronym is spelled out. I have found work arounds to do the hard brackets around the full spelled out acronym, but that is not in compliance with our format for references that we have to follow.

Example of what I want:
In text citation-
(CNDDB 2022)

Bibliography citation-
[CNDDB] California Department of Fish and Game, Natural Diversity Data Base. 2008. Element Occurrence Reports for Taraxacum californicum. Unpublished cumulative data current to November 13, 2022.

Any ideas on how I can code this? Has anybody else created a CSL script for their agency?

Our typical citations with authors look like this:
Lawler, S.P., D. Dritz, T. Strange, and M. Holyoak. 1999. Effects of introduced mosquitofish and bullfrogs on the threatened California red‐legged frog. Conservation Biology 13(3): 613‐ 622.

Thank you for any insights!
  • Could all of these items be grouped into a single item type (e.g., report) that no item with a personal author uses? Without that, this isn't going to be easy to do.
