I'm having the exact same issue with almost the same page length. No response or even error message from Zotero though.
    Debug ID D1955671020
  • (Please start new threads for new issues. I've moved this to a new thread.)

How long have you waited? Word integration on macOS is currently relatively slow, so in a large document it could easily take a while to generate the bibliography.

In any case, that Debug ID is just for Zotero startup. We'd need to see a Debug ID that actually shows the operation in question. But you can also just use View Output in the Debug Output Logging menu to see if it's actually doing something.

New Debug ID from View Output: D1291008206

Length of time waited: on average, 10-15 min whenever attempts are made. Sometimes Word and Zotero go into "spinning beach-ball" mode and must be force-quittted

The bibliography operation is in process now, and view output just began spitting out lots of text.

    Debug ID: D1635176341

Now the text output stopped. At the same time, an "Edit bibliography" dialogue pops up. At bottom of dialogue, it says: "Warning: if you edit a citation in the editor it will no longer update to reflect changes in your database or the citation style.

    New Debug: D1948085537

I hit "Ok" in dialogue, and text output (in View debug output) now spitting out more text. Different strings than before are appearing, and at different rates. So something new is happening.

    Current ID: D956961679

That's the last output. It's stopped:

    (4)(+0000044): ZoteroMacWordIntegration: complete

No bibliography generated in document still.

Trying again (this time with debug output ENABLED)

New Debug ID with new error: D71332852
  • (1)(+0006893): NS_ERROR_FAILURE Exception: Field reference lost @[insertFieldRaw:document.m:1766]
If it's opening the Edit Bibliography window, there's already a bibliography in your document. Toggle Word field codes, search for ZOTERO_BIBL, and delete the field completely. Then toggle field codes off and try inserting a bibliography again (only once).

Beyond that, see Troubleshooting Errors in Word Processor Documents if you continue to get the above error.
  • There wasn't any ZOTERO_BIBL code when toggled.

Debug code outputted during latest attempt: D976067012
  • Follow the last step on the debugging page to cut down a copy of the document to troubleshoot this.

You can also send the document to support@zotero.org with a link to this thread if you want us to take a look.
  • Problem seems to be solved, but the cause is uncertain. Notes below.

    1) segmenting original chaps 1-7 into new files

    2) created segment of chap 1-3, {Citation} text NOT appearing; troubleshooting ERROR (D122271073)

    3) segment of chap 4-7, {Citation} text appears; Successful bibliography generated (D1430642322)

    4) initial conclusion: error must be in segment chap 1–3.

    5) segment of chap 1-2: {Citation} text appears; Successful bibliography generated (D1866704307)

    6) segment of chap 3 only: {Citation} text appears; Successful bibliography generated (D477515551)

    7) trying original chaps 1-7 again: {Citation} text appears (D2005121580)

    8) overall conclusion: it worked but not apparently tied to any of the above steps, since #7 was the original file from yesterday, not one of the duplicate segmented files. The only failure was on segment of chaps 1–3.
