Zotero encountered an error while updating the document.
I use Office 365. I have update zhe newest version. The zotero version is 6.0.16, the newest version, too. When I open the document, I can Add/Edit Citation, but when I Add/Edit Bibliography, word will warn me ‘Zotero encountered an error while updating the document’. And then I can't Add/Edit Citation, until i close the document and open it again. What can I do.

    We just need the Report ID, not the error output, but there's no word processor integration error in there. Make sure you generate the Report ID after triggering this error and before restarting Zotero.

    If I　select an item with only English characters.　add/Edit citation works, but add/Edit Bibliography still doesn't work, too. I use China National Standard GB/T7714-2015(numeric, 中文). but I change the style to IEEE, the error is still got.

    If you set the bibliography language to English in the plugin's Document Preferences window, does Add/Edit Bibliography work for an English-only item?

    Does it work if you set the Word language to English? We've had some reports of this before (on macOS, I believe) where people were only able to fix it by setting Word to English.

    That generally just means what it says — that you edited a citation directly in the document, and if you want Zotero to be able to update it you need to revert the edits.

    Every time the word language (Chinese to English or English to Chinese) is modified, or Bibliography style is changed, Add/Edit Citation can work normally. After inserting the reference, a dialog box "在Zotero创建此引注后，您做了修改。您要保留修改防止Zotero未来更新它吗？" will pop up, and then Add/Edit Bibliography cannot work normally.

    I found that it was not because changing the word language changed Zoreto's errors, but because changing the language required restarting Word.     What do you mean by "create a doc and a docx file"? Do you create two files? Which one are you editing? Does it work if you only create a docx file and try to insert a bibliography there? If you change your Windows language to English (and restart) does it fix the issue?

    1. No matter whether the created file is doc or docx, the error is the same.
    2. I tried to change the language, but it didn't work.

    This is the latest version of word that I can get.
    My window 10 is a single language version, and the language cannot be modified. If it is an error of language, why can it be used before but not now?
