Searching "everything"

Hi--On the Zotero application that lives on my computer, I can choose to search "Everything," which includes my notes and (I think) attachments. That search capability does not show up when I access my libraries via zotero.com. There, if I search "title, creator, year + full-text content" for a term I know is in the notes (but not title, creator, or year fields) I get nothing. Is there a way to fix this? Thank you!
  • Those are currently the available search modes on the web library, but search modes equivalent to All Fields & Tags and Everything are planned.
  • Thank you, dstillman, very helpful.
  • Hi - I have a related question. If I search my library for a term I know is in the indexed PDFs, it comes up when I search via the desktop version of Zotero.

But when I access the web library version via zotero.org, and I do a search (after setting it to "Title, Creater, Year + Full-Text Content", nothing comes up. I assume that "full-text content' means it can search within PDFs, so I'm unclear why nothing comes up that way? Thank you!
  • @das1002: We'd need to know the search term and the URL in the address bar after selecting the parent item in the web library.

Also make sure you have "Sync full-text content" enabled in the Sync preferences.
  • Thanks for the quick reply.

As an example, I searched for the word 'homeostasis' but nothing came up via the online search (but results do come up via desktop Zotero) - the URL is

    https://www.zotero.org/das1002/collections/CUVZF6EG/search/homeostasis/everything

I checked and I did have 'Sync full-text content' already on

  • Based on the URL you've posted, this search runs only in a single collection (highlighted in collection tree on the left). Does the item you're looking for belong to this collection?

If it does, to be able to do any debug, as @dstillman explained, we will need the URL when that item is selected.
