Footnotes are stuck "{Updating}"

I am trying to cite in Google Docs, Chicago style with footnotes, but sometimes the citations work and other times they are stuck saying "{Updating}". If I delete the citation and try again, it just continues saying "{Updating}" in the footnote without my citations going in. When I try to 'edit' them I get an error saying "Selected field HfMUgr not returned from Docs backend" or some other selected field. I am no longer able to change the citation style due to these broken citations. What should I do to make it work? I am on the most recent update and have tried restarting both programs and my computer.
  • I've been able to update a few (a few hours later for about five minutes) for some unidentifiable reason, and it took a few tries for some of them, but it's back to not being able to update new ones that I put in.
  • Does anyone have any ideas? I need to turn in my senior exercises soon!
  • The citation dialog may just be appearing behind your other windows — cycle through your windows to see if that's the case. If you're sure it's not that, disable all your other browser extensions, reload Google Docs, and try again.

If you're still having trouble, provide Debug IDs from the Zotero Connector and Zotero for reloading Google Docs and trying to use the plugin.
  • I'd test enabling version 2 of the Google Docs integration in the Zotero Connector preferences. That's much faster and may avoid the issues you're seeing. Maybe make a copy of your document & test there to be extra safe.
