Unable to install Zotero app - Unable to check for updates

Hi
I've a new Mac book pro running Monterey 12.6. I've downloaded the app but it won't finalise the install and keeps showing the message:
Unable to check for updates
Please check your internet connection and try again
The internet is fine so I'm not sure what to do?
Love zotero and desperate to get it working!

  • Not totally sure what you mean by this. Checking for updates isn't part of installing Zotero.

    Can you take a screenshot of what you're seeing, upload it somewhere (Google Drive, Dropbox, etc.), and provide a link here?

    That's not from Zotero. That's macOS trying to install Rosetta, which allows an Apple Silicon Mac to run apps like Zotero that haven't yet been updated for Apple Silicon. You'd have to ask Apple why that isn't working.

    Restart your Mac and try again, try from a different network, or try upgrading to macOS Ventura. (To be clear, Zotero has run fine on Monterey, including on Apple Silicon Macs, for the last year, but since you're seeing a problem in macOS itself, upgrading macOS is pretty much all we can suggest.)
