PR_IO and timeout errors when logging in through off campus validation ticket ID 751894886

I keep having timeout issues on both Firefox and Safari when accessing articles through off campus validation. The only workaround I have found to work is to constantly refresh the page over and over until it finally loads. This can take up to 10 min and is extremely frustrating. I've submitted a support ticket through my university but they say its an issue on my end not theirs and had no suggestions other than to try yet another browser. I reported the issue on Zotero with the following ticket number 751894886, hoping someone can help me out!

    How is this related to Zotero?

    The Zotero Connector for Firefox performs automatic redirection through a configured proxy, but the Safari Connector doesn't, so if you're having trouble accessing sites in Safari as well, that wouldn't have anything to do with Zotero.

    I have no idea I just noticed a Zotero pop-up talking about a redirect so thought there might be a correlation. I'm just a grad student trying to access my readings and this is just another avenue I'm trying to solve the issue.

    Right, but that banner doesn't appear in Safari, in which the Zotero Connector doesn't do automatic proxy redirection, so if you're saying there's a problem in Safari too, it's not relevant.
