Issue switching from a Free account to an Institution account

Hello, I am desktop support for LSA at the University of Michigan. I have a customer using Zotero and she had signed up for the free account using her umich.edu email address back in 2010 (I assume on the website). I found the forum post about just adding your institution email address to have the account switch over to that but she's already using her institution email and it's still limiting her and has the "upgrade storage" button.
Is there anyway to switch her account over?
