Word/Zotero-Firefox communication problem

A few minutes ago I updated to Zotero 2.0b7.2 and the WinWord Integration plugin 3.0a2.

I tried to insert a citation in Word 2007, and came up with the error:
"Word could not communicate with Zotero. Please ensure Firefox is running and try again."

I saw the thread about Flock. This isn't my problem, since I'm using firefox. However, I think that perhaps my problem has to do with multiple firefox profiles. I have a default profile, a "research" profile, and one optimized for video (I know what that sounds like, but I watch a lot of soccer streams, really). Zotero is only installed on the research profile. Could this conceivably be the problem? All I've really experimented with is making sure my research profile is the only one running.

any ideas?
  • Are you starting Firefox with -no-remote?
  • affirmative.

this is my shortcut target in properties:
    "C:\Program Files\Mozilla Firefox\firefox.exe" -P SACresearch -no-remote

FWIW, I also tried manually reinstalling the word plugin, but that had no effect.
  • Remove -no-remote from the profile you want to use with Zotero.
  • Well, that seems to work! Will removing the "-no-remote" from the command interfere with my ability to run multiple profiles at once?

thanks a lot for the help.
  • I don't believe it should, as long as the other (non-Zotero) profiles are started with -no-remote.
