Full title for first reference in Chicago Note
Hello.
I am using Chicago note format, but I would prefer to have a complete title included on the first reference (the Manual leaves some discretion at how much to shorten, and in this case it is for a dissertation, so the reader cannot easily consult the bibliography to find the full title). I don't want to include all of the publication info that is included in Chicago full-note - just a complete title.
I suspect this involves a fairly simple tweak to the treatment of the "first" reference - I'm wondering if anyone could point me to how this might be done?
Thank you very much for such an invaluable resource!

However, I would rather question why you would want to change a Chicago style "beyond recognition". Wouldn't it make sense to find a style that is officially more similar to what you want?
In my experiences, universities are quite open to accepting different citation styles for dissertations, as long as the style is consistently applied.
