Accents problem after exporting DB

Hi,

I exported a Zotero database in RDF to transfer it onto another account. When importing, all the characters with accents are replaced by symbols. Is there anyway to solve this?

Thanks in advance.
  • That shouldn't happen, and we could debug it, but that's also very much not the way to transfer a library to another computer:

    https://www.zotero.org/support/kb/transferring_a_library
  • Though I guess you said "account", not "computer". Export can be used for that, though if these are both your accounts you would always want to simply change your username and/or email address rather than create a new account and transfer data.
  • Didn't know that. I had to create a new account so that my employer could register unlimited storage.

I am now trying to transfer my DB (with PDFs) from one account to the other.

And then I will also need to transfer it from my personal computer to the professional one.

Any tips for doing both those operations, without loosing correct accent characters?

    Thanks for your reactivity

Well, what do you mean by that? If you have an existing Zotero account, it's really best not to try to create a second one. If you explain exactly what you're trying to do, we may be able to suggest an alternative (e.g., just adding a second email address to your first account).
  • I have recently started working on a collective research project and suggested using Zotero groups to centralise references and PDFs for the whole team.

My personal Zotero account was free and we needed a larger storage capacity, which my lab agreed to pay for. However for administrative reasons they needed an account registered to my professional email address. I therefore opened an account with my professional email address (I didn't know we could attach several addresses to one account), we paid for the unlimited access, and I am know trying to transfer references and PDFs I had already started to gather to this professional account.

I'm sure there would have probably been a simpler way, but this is where I'm at now.

If you email storage@zotero.org, we can just transfer the storage subscription to the original account, and you can transfer the group, delete the new account, add the professional email address to the original account.

If you really want to keep the accounts separate, we can debug the RDF transfer (and we can do that regardless), but export/import will reset all Date Added values, break links to citations in existing word processor documents, and may lose some other data here and there.
  • I'll email storage@zotero.org.

    Thanks a lot.
