Zotero on ancient mac os x

Is there an older version of Zotero can I run on my Mac, which is still on 10.9.5 OS.
(I fear it will be a solid few days work reinstalling things, if I upgrade the OS).

I was using 6.0.9 successfully (manually reinstalled after 6.0.11 failed), and had tried to prevent automatic updates by changing something in the advanced(?) preferences menu (it was a month ago, I forgot precisely).

My mac rebooted today, and (despite my changes) Zotero had automatically updated at some point in the last month. Now no versions of Zoetro 6 start --- I get the finder
error message 'Zotero is damaged and cant be opened. You should
eject the disk image/move it to trash',
however I try and load it. (I've reloaded the old versions of Zotero
from your website several times.)

I'm guessing that attempting to change the update frequency
changed some variable that the install is intepreting to mean the
files are corrupted? Is there an obvious file I can reinstall or edit
to make things work?

Or an older version of Zotero 6 that I could install and use?

With apologies and thanks,

Ian

PS Zotero is wonderful.
  • True, but I'd really rather not if possible - it will be a few days work.

    Is there any chance that the issue is because of a preference in
    pref.js
    that I can just edit? (Or any other file) 6.0.9 was running beautifully until my computer rebooted, and an updated version of Zotero tried to run.

    I had set `app.update.auto' to false from the Zotero menu, and don't think I had made any other changes; I can paste the contents of prefs.js here if it would help.

    The file begins

    user_pref("app.update.auto", false);
    user_pref("app.update.download.attempts", 0);
    user_pref("app.update.elevate.attempts", 0);
    user_pref("app.update.lastUpdateTime.addon-background-update-timer", 1661460880);
    user_pref("app.update.lastUpdateTime.background-update-timer", 1661461120);
    user_pref("app.update.lastUpdateTime.blocklist-background-update-timer", 1661461000);
    user_pref("app.update.lastUpdateTime.search-engine-update-timer", 1661436834);
    user_pref("app.update.lastUpdateTime.xpi-signature-verification", 1661460760);
    user_pref("app.update.postupdate", true);
    user_pref("browser.cache.disk.capacity", 358400);
    user_pref("browser.cache.disk.filesystem_reported", 1);

    Thanks, and with apologies
