[G Docs File] Everything up to date, but Zotero doesn't refresh and Progress bar is red

edited August 22, 2022
Hi team,

I'm having an issue with a Docs file, where I already have a lot of citations through the text and would be really painful to rebuild it.
When I try to refresh the citations, Zotero bar shows just as red and doesn't do nothing blocking the document.
Even if I just tried to add a new citation, it would shown as {Updating} and would never be fixed.

I've submitted the Debug ID D1820360704.

Could someone please help?

Thank you.
  • You have nearly 3000 Zotero citations in this document. We rarely test Zotero with documents of that size, as they are exceptionally rare. How many pages do you have? You may benefit from switching to Google Docs Integration v2 in Zotero Connector Preferences -> Advanced, if it works for you (there is a Google Docs bug that we are waiting for a fix on their part that occasionally causes the v2 integration to not work). If that doesn't work, you may need to switch to a different word processor completely as even Google Docs itself becomes very slow with large docs and dedicated desktop apps like LibreOffice or Word are better suited for them.

@adomasven I appreciate a lot your quick reply.
I should only have 89 citations (while I repeat them across the text) - but just noticed that Zotero replicated the bibliography multiple times.

Is it safe to delete them?

Tried now with v2. Gives an error pointing to troubleshooting page. New Debug ID. - D1274598704
  • I've deleted all the repetitive citations.
It continue giving error, even with v2.

    Debug ID - D542842125

My Mac has a M1Pro cpu. Can it be some issue related to roseta?
Would really like some help about what can I do to don't lose (and be able to continue) my work.

    Thank you.
  • Just if someone has the same issue as me, I've deleted all the bibliography and pushed refresh with the v2. It recreated the bibliography and solved the issue.
  • Yeah, we see the bibliography multiplying issue sometimes in Google Docs, but we don't know what causes it and it's fixed easily enough by removing the bibliography and reinserting it.
