Using one private library by several users instead of using a group library
Hi dear dstillman,
I have two questions:
a) Would it be possible that I enter the credentials of a private library to the Zotero installation on the PCs of the members of my working group and that they can then work with the single same library with the same user account (namely mine) without problems? Or would that create difficulties when it comes to synching?
I am asking because I am thinking of a way to avoid group library access on the private PCs of those members for different reasons. The mere access to the web library does not harm as there is no auto-sync there with the private devices.
b) Is it right that an automatic backup of all Zotero data on a local PC only makes sense if this PC runs 24h AND has Zotero always opened? I am asking since if Zotero is not opened, I understand that the sync option is not activated and so an automatic backup of the Zotero data directory would not represent the latest status/changes and would therefore be of very limited use.
Many many thanks for your support and your absolutely great product (I am coming back to Zotero after years now and things seems to have changed incredibly)!

b) I'd disagree with the underlying assumption here that a back-up is only useful if it backs up the absolute latest version of your database. The difference between losing all data and losing half a day of work seems pretty significant to me.
Having a local back-up of Zotero (or any database) that is up to date at all times would be a challenge.
