Zotero freezes after updating to the newest version

Hi all,

I just have updated my Zotero to the newest version (via auto-updater) and after starting the new version, Zotero completely freezes. I can only kill it using the task manager. I downgraded Zotero now to version 3.0.7 which is working without problems.
Any suggestions how to solve this problem?

Zotero is running on Win10 Pro.

Thanks in advance and best regards,

Lode

    You mean 6.0.7, I assume?

What if you hold down Shift while Zotero is starting up? If that works, disable any third-party plugins you have installed and try again without Shift.

    Hi,

    yes, 6.0.7 of course.

if I hold down Shift while Zotero is starting, Zotero doesn't freeze immediately (loading bar is moving) but also after a while (~30sec).

  • Can you provide either a Debug ID or, if you're not able to, a screenshot of the debug output window after the freeze? (As many lines from the end of the output when it freezes would be helpful). You can email a screenshot to support@zotero.org with a link to this thread.

  • Thank you, I have send a screenshot of the debug console to support@zotero.org

  • How large is the zotero.sqlite file in your Zotero data directory, and how long have you waited? It just looks like it’s making a backup of your database before applying some updates.
  • Oh, and also, this appears to be on an external or network drive, so the backup would take longer because of that.
  • zotero.sqlite is about 220MB and I have waited 5-6 Minutes. I will try it again and will wait a little bit longer.

I will give you feedback again after testing.
  • Okay, my fault, I should have waited a little bit longer. During first run, Zotero got a 10min-freeze and worked afterwards perfectly. Now, Zotero is starting as fast as in the earlier versions.

    Thank you for your support!
