no option to add to a particular collection

Hi there,
When I am save an article from a database (e.g. EbscoHost) to Zotero, the pop-up does not give me an option to save it to a particular collection. It says the following only:
"Do you want to import the file "delivery (10).ris"?Items will be added to a new collection."
I see in your Support information it says "After you click the save button, a popup will appear indicating which Zotero collection the item is being saved to". However, this is not an option for me. Is there a setting I need to change to avoid it creating a new collection each time I add an article?
  • You’re not clicking the save button. It sounds like you’re trying to download a RIS file directly. Zotero will intercept that and offer to import it, but that’s not how you save on supported sites.

  • Thank you. (When I had used Zotero some time ago, the Export function in a database (downloading a RIS file) did give an option to deselect "create a new collection".)

I've just saved a couple of articles using the Chrome Connector Save button. However, it didn't detect the first one as a journal article. it said: "An error occurred saving with EBSCOhost. Attempting to save using Save as Webpage instead."
It then added the article to my collection, but saved it as a webpage.

The second article also initially came up with an error message:
"An error occurred saving with EBSCOhost. Attempting to save using DOI instead." Then it did save it.

This is while using a Ebsco Discovery search - pulling results from various databases.
  • Is the discovery layer public? Could you link to it?
  • No, it's not public. Password access.

For reference, here's an EDS instance that's ungated & seems to have the same issue: https://discovery.ebsco.com/c/24jp5w/results?q=test

edit: looks like you need to start from https://www.suu.edu/library/ to use this without getting routed through the library proxy
  • Thanks. So, is there any solution to this?
It seems importing a RIS file directly at least retains the article as 'an article' (rather than not recognising it and converting it to a webpage, when saving via then Connector), but then you have the issue of it adding it to a new collection each time.
