Why Zotero's icon sometimes turns into a camera icon on Safari's toolbar? And other times it disappears?

    That's just an item type icon, the same as all the others that appear as you browse the web. It sounds like you're talking about the Video Recording icon, which would appear on YouTube and similar sites.
